Questions and Answers

For authors
Do I need to sign anything to accept the terms?

No. Submitting any contribution, registering, attending or otherwise taking part in any GDI-related event, including GDI 2025, means you have accepted the Terms and Conditions of Participation. See clause 2.

Should I submit to GDI or DigiBUILT?

Submit to GDI if your work focuses on the physical, environmental and human elements of the built environment, and to DigiBUILT if it centres on AI, digital twins, smart systems and computational workflows. Each paper goes to one conference.

Will my accepted paper be published by Springer Nature?

Springer Nature assesses every accepted paper independently against its own eligibility and quality criteria, and publishes the papers that meet them. Accepted papers not taken forward may be considered for alternative platforms. See the publication statement.

Are review papers accepted for the proceedings?

Only if they introduce a new framework, method or original contribution beyond the review. Bibliometric studies, purely descriptive surveys, opinion pieces and incremental applications fall outside the publisher’s scope.

Are the proceedings indexed in Scopus or Web of Science?

Indexing is determined independently by the indexing services, such as Scopus and Web of Science, according to their own criteria and timetables. Authors can confirm the current status of any outlet with its publisher.

Can I present if I cannot travel?

Yes, where the edition offers recorded or online presentation. Your paper keeps the same eligibility for publication consideration.

For delegates
Is GDI 2026 in person?

The main conference on 7 and 8 December 2026 is entirely online. The in-person part of GDI 2026 was the Industry Chapter Day at AUT on 11 September 2026.

How many papers does one registration cover?

One. Authors with more papers register once per paper, or buy an additional article registration where offered.

Can I get a refund if my paper is not published?

Registration fees cover participation in the conference, and publication outcomes leave them unchanged. See the Terms and Conditions, clause 8, and the Cancellation, Refund and Substitution Policy.

When and where is GDI 2027?

Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, in October 2027, over two and a half days. Exact dates will be announced on the GDI 2027 page.

For organisations
How can my organisation take part?

Through a sponsorship package, the Industry Showcase, an industry contribution to the programme, or by partnering with an edition.

Can my university host a GDI?

Yes. Proposals to host editions from 2028 are welcome. See Host a GDI.
