SASBE 2024 Auckland
International Conference on Smart and Sustainable Built Environment, held in Auckland from 7 to 9 November 2024 and chaired by Professors Ali and Amirhosein GhaffarianHoseini.

SASBE 2024 brought the International Conference on Smart and Sustainable Built Environment to Auckland from 7 to 9 November 2024. It was chaired by Professors Ali and Amirhosein GhaffarianHoseini, founders of GDI Academy, as the Auckland edition of the international SASBE series championed by Professor Farzad Rahimian, who served as Honorary Chair with Professors Nashwan Dawood and Jeremy Gibberd. The Organising Committee was chaired by Dr Mahesh Babu Purushothaman.
The conference met at AUT City Campus, hosted by the School of Future Environments at Auckland University of Technology in collaboration with CIB W116. Over three days it presented eleven keynote addresses, fifteen parallel paper tracks, four sessions of recorded presentations, three technical workshops and a panel of CIB Task Group 125, and closed with the best paper and best presenter announcements and the conference gala dinner.
Its 164 peer‑reviewed papers are published by Springer Nature in Lecture Notes in Civil Engineering, volume 591, edited by Ali GhaffarianHoseini, Amirhosein GhaffarianHoseini, Farzad Rahimian and Mahesh Babu Purushothaman. Extended versions of selected papers were invited to four international journals, and the Journal of Information Technology in Construction devoted a special issue to SASBE 2024, publishing 15 articles in 2025. The SASBE series has continued internationally since 2025.
