Farnaz Sheikh

Co-Founder of the NZAAR International Event Series and Senior Research Programme Coordinator, Faculty of Science, University of Auckland.

Profile

Co-Founder of the NZAAR Series

Farnaz Sheikh is a research coordination professional with more than a decade of experience in supporting research programmes, and a co-founder of the NZAAR International Event Series. Together with Professors Ali and Amirhosein GhaffarianHoseini she inaugurated the series, conceived its purpose and designed the model that defined it: international multi-conference events in which themed conferences on the natural and built environment, cities, sustainability and advanced engineering convened under one roof, with each event recorded in its own proceedings volume.

Across the four event series held between June 2016 and January 2018, from the inaugural edition at the Shangri-La Hotel in Putrajaya to the final edition at the GTower Hotel in Kuala Lumpur, she supported the chairing and organisation of every event. Hers was the coordination on which a gathering of several conferences depends, and the series she helped to build carried 118 papers by more than 250 authors into the scholarly record, with its 2017 and 2018 volumes indexed in the Web of Science Conference Proceedings Citation Index.

She also contributed to the scholarly programme of the inaugural event. Her paper The Essence of Promoting Green Roofs for Building Cooling Energy Reduction in New Zealand appears in the proceedings of June 2016.

She is now Senior Research Programme Coordinator in Science Research Support at the University of Auckland’s Faculty of Science, where she brings the same experience in research coordination to the faculty’s research programmes.
